As a core component for elelctric energy conversion in EV, the on-board charger (OBC) must maintain efficient and stable operation under complex conditions such as AC/DC rectification and DC/AC inversion. The temperature rise of its internal power modules, magnetic components, and capacitor arrays directly affects charging safety and efficiency. EXSENSE OBC NTC temperature sensor, with its own temperature sensitivity, can collect real-time temperature signals at key points of the OBC, providing precise temperature control data to its control system.
To ensure the quality of temperature monitoring, EXSENSE NTC temperature sensors in OBC follow the layout principle of “near heat source, fast monitoring”. Therefore, NTC sensors are usually installed in the following locations:
1.Surface of power devices (such as IGBT module): Monitor the transient temperature rise generated during on-off process of thr device, preventing local overheating that may cause failure or aging.
2.High-frequency transformer and inductor winding: Monitor temperature changes caused by core losses and winding copper losses, avoiding magnetic saturation and insulation failure.
3.Liquid cooling system: Monitor coolant temperature changes, preventing abnormal temperature from affecting the liquid cooling heat dissipation effect.
Based on the thermal management temperature protection of EXSENSE OBC NTC temperature sensor, the risk of OBC overheating damage can be effectively reduced, significantly improving reliability. Once the OBC begins operation, temperature signals collected by the NTC are converted via ADC and then transmitted to the OBC control system. The control system, using preset temperature thresholds and relevant algorithms, takes corresponding measures under different temperature conditions. For instance, if the junction temperature monitored by the EXSENSE temperature sensor is below the threshold, the control system will initiate preheating to improve charging efficiency. If the junction temperature exceeds the threshold, the control system will adjust charging power or activate the cooling system to prevent further temperature rise.
With the high-accuracy over-temperature protection of EXSENSE NTC temperature sensor, the OBC builds a impregnable temperature safety barrier, effectively preventing various safety risks caused by abnormal junction temperatures. Meanwhile, with the high-reliability temperature information provided by the OBC NTC temperature sensor, helping improve charging efficiency and extend the service life of components and the system.
