NTC Temperature Sensor Assists Windshield Intelligent Defrosting of Energy Vehicle

When the windshield of energy vehicle frosts, freezes, or fogs up, driver usually turns on the air conditioning system to clear them, ensuring a clear driving view. In this process, EXSENSE NTC temperature sensors play a key role by real-time monitoring of the windshield temperature changes, providing critical temperature data for the air conditioning system and defrosting/defogging functions of EV.


Compared to traditional indirect temperature measurement methods, which may have delays and inaccuracies, using NTC temperature sensors at the edges and bottom of the windshield of EV can obtain more representative temperature data. Installing NTC sensors in these locations allows for a more comprehensive understanding of the windshield‘s overall temperature changes, preventing errors caused by different environmental temperatures at the edges and bottom that could lead to system misjudgments. In the windshield temperature monitoring system, the resistance value change of the EXSENSE temperature sensor due to temperature variations is converted into an electrical signal. This electrical signal is then transmitted to the electronic control unit (ECU) of EV. Once the ECU receives the signal, it uses preset algorithms and temperature thresholds to determine the windshield temperature. If the temperature is too low and frost forms, the ECU will activate defrost heating elements, adjust air conditioning vent temperature and airflow, etc, keeping the windshield within a suitable temperature range and ensuring driving safety.


The stable operation of EXSENSE NTC temperature sensors in the windshield of EV, relies on their excellent NTC characteristics:


1. High Accuracy: EXSENSE temperature sensors offer ±1% accuracy, assisting the ECU in precisely monitoring of windshield temperature. When the temperature approaches frost or fog thresholds, the system can take timely measures to prevent frost and ensure driving safety.


2. Excellent Sensitivity: During driving of EV, the windshield temperature changes with the surrounding environment temperature. The excellent sensitivity of EXSENSE NTC temperature sensors helps the ECU regulate defrost/defog operations based on actual temperature data, avoiding unnecessary energy consumption and improving energy efficiency of EV.


With the support of EXSENSE windshield NTC temperature sensors, EV can efficiently achieve efficient defrosting and defogging of the windshield when facing conditions such as low-temperature frosting in winter and fogging in humid weather, reducing driving risks while enhancing the user experience.
