AI Liquid-Cooled Server Temperature Monitoring Solution: Application of NTC Temperature Sensor

Time:2026-09-17 Views:2

In recent years, AI data center has developed rapidly. During intensive training or inference operations, the thermal load can rise sharply in a very short time. Without effective temperature monitoring, issues such as performance frequency reduction, unplanned downtime, and even hardware accelerated degradation are hard to avoid. To overcome this technical barrier, AI liquid-cooled server equipped with EXSENSE excellent-reliability NTC temperature sensors have emerged, reducing the risk of server failures due to overheating and ensuring stable operation of AI data center.

The installation of EXSENSE data center NTC temperature sensors in AI liquid-cooled server needs to cover two key points: the heat source and the cooling system, creating a complete temperature sensing network. NTC temperature sensors are installed near chips, such as CPU and GPU, to quickly and accurately capture heat changes generated during operation, providing the basis for timely adjustment of cooling measures. In liquid cooling pipelines, NTC temperature sensors are placed at the inlet and outlet to monitor changes in coolant temperature. By monitoring coolant temperature, the cooling efficiency of the liquid cooling system can be assessed, ensuring the coolant effectively carries away the heat generated by the server. Based on these temperature data, the cooling system can adjust the control valve opening according to the return liquid temperature to regulate coolant flow; dynamically adjust the working frequency of the cooling pumps to achieve energy-efficient operation; and provide early warnings for potential issues like cold plate blockages through inlet-outlet temperature differences. This "sense-compute-act" closed-loop mechanism makes EXSENSE data center NTC temperature sensors the temperature sensing foundation of AI liquid-cooled server thermal management system. In this process, EXSENSE temperature sensors are essential:

1. Excellent Reliability: Ensures continuous temperature monitoring during the sustained operation of AI liquid-cooled servers. NTC temperature sensors are packaged in metal housing or epoxy resin, featuring excellent long-term reliability and low annual drift, minimizing the risk of misjudgment and maintenance needs due to sensor failure.

2. High Accuracy: Captures instant thermal shocks brought by sudden AI load changes. With ±1% accuracy, EXSENSE temperature sensors help the liquid cooling system precisely evaluate cooling efficiency and implement fine-tuned control, avoiding performance frequency reduction or energy waste caused by temperature measurement errors.

3. Customization: Addresses the diverse installation requirements in AI data center liquid-cooled server. EXSENSE Electronics can customize NTC temperature sensors with different parameters and packaging forms according to the manufacturers’ specific installation methods (e.g., pipeline insertion, surface mount, immersion type) to achieve more efficient temperature monitoring.

EXSENSE data center NTC temperature sensors are the first line of defense against overheating damage in AI liquid-cooled server. With their comprehensive advantages of ensuring continuous monitoring, supporting precise control, and adapting to diverse scenarios, they have become an indispensable part of the thermal management system of data center AI liquid-cooled server. As AI computing power density continues to rise and liquid cooling technology evolves, the value of EXSENSE high-reliability NTC temperature sensors in AI data center thermal management will become even more prominent.
